Stephanie Barlow: Hi! I am Stephanie Barlow from the National Watermelon Promotion Board. I am here to tell you that you can enjoy watermelon all year long. Every season we have a reason for watermelon and this season it's Thanksgiving.
I am going to show you how to make a watermelon cranberry sauce to help trim your turkey and set the table for your Thanksgiving celebration. It's really easy and it will be a great surprise for your guests.
Let's get started. We are going to first assemble in a pot, four cups of fresh cranberry, none of the frozen stuff, half a cup of sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla and then one lemon, the juice and zest and we'll mix these ingredients all up.
Now, we are going to transfer this to the stove and simmer over medium low heat until our cranberries are tender. It's got 15-20 minutes. After your cranberries are tender, reduce the heat to low and add a half a cup of maple syrup, dash your cinnamon, stir it up and we'll simmer for another few minutes.
Last but not least, it's time to stir in two cups of minced watermelon. Now you can serve it warm right out at the pot which is delicious or chill it and serve it later. Either way, it's a great and healthy addition to your Thanksgiving table. Enjoy!
