Sherry Tyra: We all want to get our lives organized, but organizing your entire house can be an overwhelming and daunting task. By starting out small, you can conquer any room in the house. The kitchen is a great place to start.
First, organize your food pantry. You may be surprised you have more food in it than you thought. Group like foods together. By doing so, you can easily find what you are looking for. Wall mounted racks are a great way to store spices and keep them in an alphabetical order for quick reference.
Store your baking goods in large glass or plastic containers. Flour, sugar, rice and pasta last longer when they are stored in airtight containers. Use wire or metal racks inside your cabinets to utilize the available space more efficiently.
Turntables are a great way to make all the items in the cabinet easily accessible. Add a strip of wood to one of the shelves inside your cabinet. It will give you a place to easily store cutting boards or baking sheets in an upright position saving space.
Eliminate dishware that you never use, we are all guilty of keeping items in our cabinets that we haven't used for years and coffee mugs tend to multiply in any one's home. You will be surprised that how much space you gain in your cabinets when you start weeding out the duplicate or never used items.
Start small and do a task or two a day. Ship away one small task at a time and before you know it, your house will be wonderfully organized.
