Hi! I am Mike at Ski Chalet in Arlington, Virginia. Today, we are going to talk about how to purchase snowboard equipment. We are going to learn about choosing the right board, getting fit for the right snowboard boots and choosing the right bindings to complete your setup. After this video, you should feel comfortable going into any shop and choosing the right equipment to get you out on the slopes and riding. To choose a right setup for you, you need a general knowledge of your ability level as well as a general idea of where you want your riding to go. There are a number of questions you should be prepared to answer before you walk into the snowboard shop. The salesperson is going to ask you how long you've been riding, what your ability level is and where you view your riding going in the future? These are important questions to know the answers to, to ensure that you get onto the right board for you. Other questions you need to be prepared to answer are how much you weigh because snowboards don't care how tall you are, they just care how much you weigh and then you need to know your shoe size because if you have over a size 11 men shoe, you are going to need to go into a wide snowboard to avoid getting heel or toe drag. Before we get started, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. This is my fifth year working at Ski Chalet. I have been snowboarding for 15 years and over that time, I have gained a good knowledge about everything you need to get out in snowboard. So let's get started.
