    Transcript

Host: If one member of the family is diagnosed with a disease, will this affect other members finding affordable coverage?

Bob Hurley: Families need to know, obviously, typically, it's the mom or the dad that's going out and shopping for health insurance. Often times, it's the mom, is sitting at home or at work and she is concerned about the family and wants to go out and get coverage but it's critically important for families to know that there are affordable options out there for them. Yeah, the internet is a very powerful place for families now to use to come out and learn about health insurance. They can compare plan side by side. We offer a website that they can do that and then they can actually, see the pricing that's available right online and then they can actually apply and get approved online as well.

So I would encourage families to use the internet when they are looking at their options. I often get asked what if my son Johnny has a health condition and as a result of that condition my family is having trouble getting covered? What I always encourage that family to do is get all of the family members covered immediately that you can get covered. So if mom and dad can get a plan and their daughter can get a plan, get those three members of the family covered quickly so that you have got your risk mitigated by at least, getting most of the family covered on health insurance. Then you can work more specifically on that one family member that has some kind of health condition and it may take longer to get them under written or approved by the health insurance company. That will give you time to go ahead and work on that one family member more aggressively with the insurance company or if they are not going to be approved by the Insurance Company, it will give you time then to research your options with the state. There maybe a state program, there maybe a high risk pool which is simply a pool for basically, an insurance program for people those are difficult to insure. So there are options for that family member, but I don't want to you hold back from getting everybody insured that you can possibly get insured.
