Mitch Baker: Hi! I am Mitch Baker with American Plant and today I'll be talking about July gardening tips. First, we'll talk about watering your garden, which you can do to keep your trees, shrubs and your lawn watered through the hot summer months. Next we'll talk about mosquito control which you can do to keep mosquitoes at bay so that you can spend more time in the garden. We'll move inside to talk about how we can care for our house plants while we are away on vacation. And then summer pruning. What we can do to keep trees and shrubs looking their best right through the hot summer months. And we'll finish up with selecting flowering tropical plants for the deck and patio.

You'll need some tools and materials before we start; a good pair of gloves, a pair of pruning shears, a pair of lopping shears and some fertilizer for the flowering tropical plants. Before we start a bit about American Plant, we are a retail garden center with several locations in the Washington Metro area. We specialize in natural and organic products. And I'm a Merlin certified professional horticulturist with 34 years experience in the Garden Center Industry. So let's get started on making our lawn and garden look great for July.
