Swimming expert David Penlard demonstrates the swimming exercise, propelling through the water.

David Penland: Hi! I'm David with the Northern Virginia Swim League and this morning we are going to help you teach your child how to swim and in this segment we are going to talk about propulsion, how to get through the water. My assistant here today is Freddie and what we are going to do is show you how to kick first. So Freddie is going to put his hands on the wall, you are just going to start by kicking his leg. Now hold on Freddie. Freddie I want you to remember to point your toes, okay and we are just going to make small little kicks. Okay, ready, go. Good, Alright maybe some bigger kicks now. Alright, good, that's great Freddie. Once you learn how to kick and float on your back you are really teaching your child safety tools, when your child can float on their back and kick, they are always going to be able to be safe. So that they can stick your head back and float and move, and never stuck in the water. So just stick your head back Freddie, relax, arms down, relax and we are going to kick. In our next segment, we are going to talk about the different strokes you learn, good job.
