Lemon Angel Food Cake – Baking and Plating the Cake

    Karen Stiegler: Hi! My name is Karen Stiegler, and I am here today talking to you about Healthy Baking and showing you how to make a fat free Lemon Angel Food Cake. So we have the cake here, we've removed it from the pan. And I just turned it over onto this cake platter or a large plate, and the first thing I am going to do is to cut the cake. So you will want to use a long serrated knife for this, like a bread knife because if you use a regular knife, when you go to cut the cake it will actually smash down all these beautiful height and volume you got on the cake when you baked it. So we want to use this serrated knife. So I am just going to slice easily through it. And we have our fresh fruit topping here, our strawberries and blackberries that we got ready. So we are just going to plate it with those.

    And another thing you could do is this is a very healthy way to enjoy this cake and still keeps it fat-free but if you are not worried so much about fat in your diet, you could serve it with whip cream, you could serve it with lemon curd, that you use the egg yolks from the egg whites to make, things like that.

    Another idea is to serve it with a fruit sauce, and I do have a recipe on my website for a really nice fruit sauce, so if you want to make that and have that on hand.
