    Transcript

Charlie Anderson: Hi, Charlie Anderson here, Metal Gear Solid 4 expert. In this section we are going to be going over survivability tactics. It's learning the art of stealth, considering that this is a stealth espionage game, and stealth is a huge part of Metal Gear Solid 4.

And then after that we are going to be going over implementing and using the functionality of Octo-Camo, learning how to survive in a firefight, as well as also learning how to sneak past certain enemies in the game as well. Just some quick survivability tips. Like this is the opening of the game that you really first take control of Snake. You really want to make sure that you are really quiet and don't knock over anything when you are doing this, because you will attract a lot of attention to yourself, and you really don't want a lot of attention on yourself, especially early on in this game. So I am just going to run through this real quick to show you some ideas and some good ways to be stealthy, especially when you have wide open area like these streets and you are trying to get around a lot of places, and really how to just take your enemies down quickly and quietly, and not have to worry about everything that's going on.

Like this, slowly -- show up, you are here right now. You need to have a lot of patience while playing this game as well. These guys will do -- make rounds and come back and all that stuff. From here, once these guys leave, I am going to slowly crawl over to here, try not to make too much noise, try and stay in the shadow. Scoot over here.

In the event that you do get seen, you really want to try to get out of sight, really try to avoid getting attacked. Now they are going to start running, sending people in that because I have been spotted. Being spotted is not a great thing, so I am just going to stand here, and they'll run past. So a great way to avoid a firefight is to just knock everybody out. A great way you can do that is -- the weapon I have equipped right now, which is your Anesthetic Pistol. Another good thing you can do is you have these little dumpsters you can hide in if you want to avoid getting seen. This can be cool, but it will make me smell a lot.

Something else to think about for survivability as well is your health. As you see right here, my health is kind of low, and notice my stress level is going up. As your stress level rises, your psyche decreases, and you need your psyche to be able to regenerate health. So what you need to do is, notice I am out in the open, is you need to go into like a dark area, lay down, and you notice your stress level decreases to 0. Therefore your psyche will, like, jump all the way up, and then your health will regenerate. This is extremely important for later on, especially when you are doing Boss fights and you don't have any rations or any health items like that. So I am going to pop on my iPod to listen to, so that way I can regenerate quicker. So this is the firefight, these are the really cool part about Metal Gear Solid, but its also some of the hard parts about Metal Gear Solid, because you cannot use your stealth to your advantage in firefights. It's pretty much -- you have to be good at running out in the contrary, getting these head shots, taking a few shots, getting out of the way, reloading quickly.

Notice I am also just like -- I am not actually holding down the mouse button, I am just popping off a few shots. If you have ever played Counter Strike or anything like that you know what it feels like.

It only takes like a couple of head shots to take these guys down depending on where you hit them and how you hit them and all that stuff. Now, with this I have to be careful, because I am with my team, and if any one of my team members go down as well, the game is over. It gets extremely tough, especially when you are playing on the hardest difficulty level. So know when to try to keep low, try to stay out of harm's way, because you are in a firefights you really start acting like it. Alright, so that was survivability tactics. Next up, I want to show you some tips and tricks on how to get some cool stuff in the game.
