Susan Battle: Hello, I am Susan Battle owner of The Point of it All. This video is to how to needlepoint. In this segment, I will be demonstrating the Continental Stitch. Here is a diagram of the basic Continental Stitch. I am going to demonstrate right handed. Now that you've anchored your thread, let me go back and explain the Continental Stitch. Again, coming up from the back of your canvas, I want you to visualize a map of the United States. You will be working from Arizona to Maine, Arizona to Maine, going over on inner section of canvas. You are going to be working from the right to the left, so Arizona to Maine, Arizona to Maine, Arizona to Maine, Arizona to Maine. You are going to keep working from the right side of your canvas to the left side of your canvas. Now, when you get to the end of a row, you are going to turn the canvas upside down and continue working as you have been, Arizona to Maine, still working from the right side of your canvas to the left side. Keep going Arizona to Maine and you are needlepointing, carry on. In our next segment, I am going to show you how to end a thread and securely anchor it.
