Host: What else should I change on my resume if I want to change careers?
Louise Kursmark: So, if you are changing careers your resume intro needs to reflect the fact that you are an individual with a proven skills in a certain area. You don't want to claim experience in a particular area if you don't have it but you can certainly claim skills. So, think about the skills that are needed for your new area and position yourself as an accomplished or a professional or a skillful person in that area. In this case a functional resume format might work really well for you because you can then put key skill clusters and provide some success stories relevant to those skills without having to tie them to a particular job title or a company. Oftentimes a functional resume does work really well for people changing careers. So, look at the structure of your resume and don't just change the keywords or the focus without looking to how that change is going to affect the rest of the resume in terms how it's put together and what employers see first and what they see most.
