Kevin Wensley: Hello! My name is Kevin Wensley, I'm the Director of Operation at Offshore Sailing School. I'm here today one of our beautiful Southwest Florida locations of South Seas Island Resort. Today I'm going to tell you little bit about adjusting you jib sheet fairleads on the load.
Okay so, what I want to do now is make an adjustment to the jib sheet fairleads here. You can see that this is under tremendous load already, what I need to do is find a way of taking the load off this sheets and now that makes a move to fairlead. So, what am I actually going do is I am going to us slack that's in the lazy sheet, I am just going to bring this out board, out board of the life lines and do a nice cleat hitch and do a mid ship cleat head. Now, what we can do is we can transfer the load of the working sheet on to this lazy sheet. Keep easing, great keep going, excellent. So, what we have now, is a fairlead that's very, very easy to adjust. So, I go ahead I made my adjustment, make sure it locks it in place, once I've got that I go ahead and I will smock to bring to load back on to the working sheet. And once we have the load back on the working sheet I can un do my cleat hitch down here and then if we can just take the slack back out to the lazy sheet for us direct, that will be great. Nice one. So, there is nice easy way to make a fine sheet adjustment to your fairleads without actually having to tack or use any creative knots. Sure you may experience a little loss of performance or ability to point using this technique, but it's a great way to go if you want be able to adjust those fairleads without actually have change tacks. 1
