Voice Instructor Jennifer Rutherford discusses how if you have the talent, singing an original song at an audition may be a good idea.

Host: Should I sing an original song I have written at an audition?

Jennifer Rutherford: Wow! If you can write your own song then you have really got talent, I got to hand it to you. It might not be a good idea because the judges can't really tell whether you hit the right notes because there are notes you have written, they dont know them. So it's a bit of a mixed blessing I would say. You could go ahead and give it a shot though if you really want to let them know that you have got that kind of talent in you.

Manon(Ph): Hi, I am Manon(Ph), I am going to be singing one of my songs that I wrote for you guys today called 'let it go'.

Jennifer Rutherford: It might be worth the risk. Just be prepared to sing something else simple like maybe the Star-spangled-banner. They may ask you to do that because they want to know whether you have good pitch or not. But I would say go ahead and give it a shot.
