Tomas Sbertoli: Hi! I am Tomas Sbertoli, Director of Snowsports here at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. Today I am teaching you how to ski.
The next piece we want to talk about is a wedge change up. It's same as a gliding wedge except I am allowing the skis to come together into a more natural stance and then brushing them back out, again into that big slow down wedge. What this does is, it practices equal pressure to both feet and controlling speed through wedge size. So I get going here and I just let the skis glide together, brush out, glide together, brush out, glide together, and then that final brush out is my stop.
Once we get comfortable with that, we will start playing with turns which is just a little bit more pressure to one foot than the other. Let's go and try that on the lift.
