There are many so-called “miracle” potions and products that claim to get rid of cellulite in a snap. And sure, some of them may work for a small amount of time, but they aren’t going to instantly make it vanish. We visited Sonya Dakar’s Skin Clinic to get the bold truth about cellulite, to find out what it really takes to make it disappear (if it can at all), and to get the recipe for a DIY body wrap to help firm and tone if you need a little help before you get into a bikini. And if you’re really in the DIY mood, try this caffeinated body scrub before you apply the wrap.
Kirbie Johnson: One of the biggest beauty gripes women have during the summer is getting rid of their cellulite. We are here in Beverly Hills at Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic where we are learning how to firm and tone our skin with an easy DIY. I am here with Mimi Dakar-Berry; hey Mimi. Mimi Dakar-Berry: Hi Kirbie!
Kirbie Johnson: Can you ever really ever get rid of cellulite?
Mimi Dakar-Berry: The best we can hope for is to just minimize it where it's virtually visible to the naked eye. Kirbie Johnson: What are some things that we can do to get rid of cellulite? Mimi Dakar-Berry: Stay away from salt; exercise; have a healthy diet; avoid things high in fat and carbohydrates and really hydrate with a lot of water. Kirbie Johnson: What if we are really serious about getting rid of cellulite, is there a treatment that we can get?
Mimi Dakar-Berry: We have a wonderful treatment called the Total Lift. It's a new treatment that uses four different methods to help reduce cellulite; heat, magnetic therapy, radiofrequency, and ultrasounds. Kirbie Johnson: And that just melts away your fat? Mimi Dakar-Berry: It actually pops the fat, it melts it, and then you secrete it through your urine. Kirbie Johnson: That treatment sounds amazing, but what if we are sitting in a comfortable of own home, what can we do there? Mimi Dakar-Berry: So you can whip up a really easy concoction and about 30 minutes you will amazing results. So the recipe is you are going to start is coffee grounds, because caffeine is wonderful for basically increasing circulation, it's going to tighten everything up. I then take some pepper-mint tea and then you're going to need a lubricant to bring it all together; just got to your local store and pick up some black seed oil and that's going to bring it all together. And then probably my magic ingredient trick, which is kind of crazy is hemorrhoid cream. Kirbie Johnson: Okay. And I have heard a lot of uses for hemorrhoid cream, in addition to what it's made for, but why is this essential? Mimi Dakar-Berry: It reduces inflammation so it will actually tighten and reduce the puffiness. Kirbie Johnson: Okay. So you mix all these together; what happens from here?
Mimi Dakar-Berry: So it's important that when you apply this coffee ground hemorrhoid cream concoction that you slather it on, but you don't really rub it in, you wanted to stay on top of the skin and then you start wrapping. You grab some Saran wrap and that's where the body wrap part comes in and then I keep it in place with an ace bandage, put on top. Kirbie Johnson: Mimi, let's get real here, does this actually work?
Mimi Dakar-Berry: So it sounds kind of nanny, but it actually really works. So if you need to get our swimsuit on or some shorts in a pinch, this will do the trick. Kirbie Johnson: All right! Mimi, thank you so much; that's all from me.
