Soccer coach Tamir Linhart demonstrates how to play soccer and how to position yourself for a cross.

Tamir Linhart: Hi I am Tamir Linhart, owner of Golden Boot Soccer and I am here to teach you how to score a goal  in soccer. Many goals in soccer are scored off across. Before you actually learn how to finish across, you need to learn how to get into a scoring position. To get into a scoring position, you need to know how to loose your defender. You are always going to have a defender chasing you trying to mark. One important thing is to enter the danger zone which I marked with the yellow corner over there with the right timing, not before the crosser made contact with the ball. You want to meet the ball on the run.

Today I am going to teach you three ways to loose your defender. There are many others but these three will give you an idea of what you need to do in order to get into a scoring position. The first one is when the attacker is running towards the far post which is on the left here and then quickly cutting the run and they are running towards the near post. That's how they are going to loose their position. It's a short cut which will give them a step ahead of their opponent, great finish.

The next one is actually, exactly the opposite. The attacker will fake a run towards the near post and then cut, change direction and go towards the far post. Let's see how it is done. Good job. The last one is when the attacker is faking a shot run, a sprint towards the goal and then when the defender backs up, the attacker stops on the spot to create space for themselves to just finish. Let's see how it's done. These are some of the ways you can use to loose your defender on the way to the soccer goal and finish across.
