This healthy tea is packed with flavor, as well as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and soothing properties.

Amy Riolo: Hi! I am Chef Amy Riolo with Harris Teeter and today we are making sweet lemon infused green spiced tea. The ingredients which we will need are one tea bag organic tea, one quarter teaspoon freshly grated ginger, one-eight teaspoon turmeric, juice of one half of lemon and one teaspoon of natural honey or maple syrup.

And the first thing that we will need is to bring a cup of water to a boil. Once we have done that, we can go ahead and add in some of our other ingredients. This is ginger root this is also called fresh ginger, it is absolutely delicious, it is really inexpensive and it is great for us. It has a lot of really wonderful health properties in it. So what we are going to do is just I have peeled a little bit off, you can see the difference of the ginger in the color, it has the tannish colored skin there and then I have peeled off this portion already with a potato peeler, we are going to take that part with my microplane and just go ahead and grate that right in. And we are looking for about a quarter teaspoon which is not very much at all. This is so much stronger than dried ginger that you get a lot of a nice flavor out of that. It is very soothing, it helps prevent morning sickness and it helps to really calm down -- calm you just down if you ever need it. And we are going to add in our tea bag and this is just the Harris Teeter's green tea that we are using.

We are going to go ahead and turn off the heat and then I am going to add in a quarter teaspoon of turmeric. Turmeric is a great spice as you can see that beautiful orange color in there and it is used all over the world for its antiseptic properties, it is also known to be used as an insect repellent. Some people make it into a paste and put it on their skin so that they don't get sunburns. So it is really good for us and it also looks great and it makes this beautiful orange color.

So I am just going to stir this around in there and then I am going to put my lid back on and I will let this steep for about two minutes and then I will come back and go ahead and strain it and we are going to also add in our honey and our lemon juice.

So now two minutes have passed and our tea has finished steeping and we can look inside and see that beautiful color that we have with the ginger and with the green tea and the mixture of the orange turmeric spice. So I am going to go ahead and take the tea bag out and I will just kind of squeeze it so that I can extract all of the great green tea flavor. Green tea has wonderful anti-oxidant properties. It is really the healthiest tea for us. So now I am going to strain this right into my tea cup. It smells absolutely wonderful. Then I am going to add in my lemon juice and I will sweeten it with honey. This is a nice natural honey. So there you have our sweet lemon infused green spice tea, enjoy.
