Roger Bennett Riggle: My name is Roger Bennett Riggle and today we are exploring the world of advanced tap dancing. Here to do the demonstrations for you is one of my advanced tap students Alison Taylor and she is here to do the demonstrations for you today. Tap dancing can be very very fun but it can also be rather complicated and it has certain components of it like an alphabet, but it does not have as many letter.
So let me breakdown just a few steps that are really really involved in tap dancing. The first is a stomp and two stomps put together is what we called a chug and then you have the tap toe of the foot and then you have the heel. Most of the time you drop the heel. You just drop it to the floor. Then we have a flap which is two sounds and it takes weight and then we have a shuffle which is also two sound but it takes no weight and then we have the ball change. The ball change is the ball of one foot and you change weight to the other. You can do almost all tap steps with these six basic elements of tap dancing.
So now we are going to get right to it and we are going to show you how to do a simple time step in tap dancing.
