Kevin Wensley, Director of Operations of the Offshore Sailing School, provides tips on sailing in comfort.

Kevin Wensley: Hello! My name is Kevin Wensley. I am Director of Operations at Offshore Sailing School. I am here at South Seas Island resort, on the beautiful island of Captiva in Florida.

And today I am going to talk a little bit about sailing in comfort. Some of the items that you want to have along with you include sunglasses with a lanyard that will keep the glasses around your neck, especially if it's sunny like it is here. A nice hat ideally with a tether that will attach to your shirt. And also plenty of sunscreen, and plenty of sunscreen to reapply, so take that not only on you but with you as well.

The next thing that I think is occasionally you might run into some foul weather, it might rain, so a good set of foul weather gear even if you don't wear it, it's good to have onboard.

And of course sailing requires that we use our hands quite a lot, so a good set of gloves is very valuable. The last thing to remember is, especially in the heat you've got to stay hydrated, so do take plenty of drinking water with you.

And that's the way to stay comfortable when you are cruising. Bon Voyage!
