Stephanie Barlow: Hi, I am Stephanie Barlow from the National Watermelon Promotion Board and I am here today to tell you some tips on how to use the whole watermelon.
A lot of times when we go to the grocery store we see a Watermelon bin and we think wow that's a lot of watermelon. Will my family be able to eat a whole watermelon, will I? Well I am going to show you a lot of different things you can do with watermelon besides just your average slice.
For instance you can slice it in triangles and for fun serve it on a popsicle stick. Freezing is optional for a fun frozen treat. Make dices from cubes for your salads and sauces to give them a little spice. Cut stick shapes for dipping from anything from yoghurt to hummus.
Use cookie cutters for frosting to make cookies of any type you like and of course put all those trimmings in excess into the blender for refreshing watermelon juice. Cocktails are optional and don't forget that rind, a 100% of the watermelon is edible and you can make watermelon rind pickles with a few simple ingredients.
In case you haven't guessed it, there are lots of ways to use a whole watermelon, and one watermelon can feed over 3 dozen people. Give it a try.
