Dr. Elspeth Bell, a licensed psychologist at the Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington, speaks on behalf of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. She talks about treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD. The two types of treatment for OCD are cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT, and medication. For some people, a combination may be the most effective treatment. Any course of treatment should be tailored to an individual’s needs. Exposure and response prevention, or ERP, is often the most effective form of CBT.
