Scott Price, President of Spina Bifida Foundation, gives an overview of what spina bifida is.

Scott Price: Hello! I'm Scott Price, President of Spina Bifida Foundation. I serve as a National Advocate for Spina Bifida related issues, and I'm also the proud father of an adult son who lives with Spina Bifida.

Spina Bifida is the most commonly occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in our country. Everyday in the United States, an average of eight births are affected by birth defects like Spina Bifida, and are living with these unique challenges. These challenges are more than one. They include significant paralysis and mobility problems, bowel and bladder difficulties, latex allergy, obesity, skin breakdown, gastrointestinal disorders, learning disabilities, and depression.

Spina Bifida Foundation works in partnership with the Spina Bifida Association. This association is the only national voluntary health organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with Spina Bifida.

In the next segment, I'll share with you more about Spina Bifida, and who's at risk for having an effective pregnancy.
