Host: What are most common signs and symptoms of sun damage to the eyes?

Dr. Laura D. Cook: The most common symptoms of sun damage depend on the diagnosis. If we are talking about skin cancer, it's going to be new lesions, new growths, areas that are non-healing and ulcerated, scabs that just won't go away, that type of thing. In terms of growth on the surface of the eye, again, it'll be or a cancer is on the surface of the eye, there will be some type of growth or some type of change that they will notice. Cataracts patients will notice changes in their vision, glare complaints and then solar retinopathy, corneal burns, those types of things are very acute and they will come to the physician for complaints of pain and decreased vision.
