Dean of Admissions Andrew Battaile explains what it means for your child to be wait-listed.

Host: What does it mean if my child is wait listed?

Andrew Battaile: Many schools have what's called a wait list and this happens often when it's the competitive process. The wait list means that a school liked your son or your daughters application and that they are qualified to do the work at that school, there is just not enough room to take them at that time. What the wait list means is that after students who are accepted, let the school know whether or not they are coming. There could be spots that are open up for other students. This is when a school will go to the wait list. If you let the school know that you are still interested, there is a possibility that your child could be accepted off that wait list.
