Host: What food should a singer a eat or avoid eating?
Jennifer Rutherford: Well you should choose something that has got a little bit of protein in it so it is going to stay with you. You never know when you are going to get the chance to eat again when you go to those long lineups for the auditions. So choose something that's going to stay with you. Maybe bring a snack with you, something healthy, try and avoid acidy foods, spicy foods. Milk and dairy products are sometimes bad for certain people, they dont bother me in particular. I find that wheat irritates me and it gives me a lot of congestion. So it depends on your system, you can do a sort of elimination diet if you want to try out and see what works best for you. Do it on a day when it doesnt matter so that you know what feels good for you. So well before the audition try out different foods. But I think in general a blend and satisfying meal is probably your best bet before an audition and do not eat too close to the audition because you do not want to be burping through the middle of your song and that would be a disaster. You want to be able to feel satisfied, eat maybe about an hour before you go.
