Host: What is an active listener?
Sean McArdle: An active listener is somebody who goes into life wanting to listen. There are people who walk in to a meeting and all they want to do is communicate, all they want to do is talk, all they want to do is present, all they want to do is get their side across. They have no opportunity to listen.
An active listener is somebody who goes in to a meeting to truly find out what is going on? So, while they sit in the meeting they use active listening skills, so that they begin to gain an interpretation of everybody s meanings, so that they can then became more effective responding to them.
