    Host: What is PTSD?

Dr. Kim Penberthy: PTSD is the short name for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is an anxiety disorder that happens after someone has been exposed to a life threatening situation or a situation where they thought they were very scared or thought that they may die. So you see this, a lot in people who have survived natural disasters, war, combat zones or an attack or even a really bad automobile accident but that's what PTSD is and it does co-occur very often with depression.
