Amanda Medders: Hi, I am Amanda Medders, owner and founder of Tri-Ed Tutoring. Today we have been talking about how to prepare for Finals. Right now, we are going to discuss studying for those finals.
Host: What materials do I need to have to effectively study? Amanda Medders: You want to make sure that you have all of your materials from class including notes, handouts that have been given, study guides that have been given for previous test, any past test or quizzes that you have taken as well as your textbook.
Beyond the materials that you are need from your classroom, you will also want to have together everything that you'll need during your studying. This would include pens, pencils, highlighters, also index cards which are great for definitions or recording bits of information that you need to recall later. You will also want to have together a graphing calculator, if you are taking a math or physical science exam and make sure that during your studying you know how to use that calculator so when it comes to the time of the test, you have been practicing with the same one that you are going be actually using on the day of the exam.
You will also want to have your formula sheet or any resources that you are going to be allowed to use during the test. This also applies mainly to math or science exams. For example, in chemistry you may be provided a periodic table. You want to make sure that you know how to use that before getting to the exam. In some instances you may want to have a timer. Some exams may have timed essay portions. When you are practicing for those essays you want to make sure that you set your timer for 25 minutes and can write your essay within that alloted amount of time.
