Mortgage Consultant Markita Aldridge discusses what you should do if there is inaccurate information on your credit report?

Host: What should I do if there is inaccurate information on my credit report?

Markita Aldridge-Woods: Well, the first thing you want to do is check all three of your credit reports and if that information there is wrong you want to take that exact credit report, circle that item and send it back to the credit bureau with a letter explaining why you think the information is wrong. If you have any documentation approved there, you also want to attach that with the letter and send it over for an investigation. Meanwhile, you also want to contact the creditor who has placed that information on your credit report and the last but not the least thing you don t want to send this regular mail; you want to send all of your correspondence certified mail.
