Host: What strategies can I use on the sentence completion questions?
Bernadette Chimner: The best way to excel in sentence completion is to predict the word that you think should go in the blank before you go down. You want to read that sentence through a couple of times before you ever go down to look at the answers. Read the sentence through, get a good sense of what the sentence is really saying and then try to fill in the blanks with your own words, using your own language. Then once you have a good sense of what should go in those blanks, then go down to the answer choices and see which answer has come closest to the words you have chosen. Always remember when you are done to read your answer fully back into that sentence because sometimes words that look good independently, when you stick them back in the sentence, really will come out to be nonsense and you will catch that if just read it all back through before you hit next and go to the next question.
