Host: When is it necessary or appropriate for a boss to give a gift to their employees?

Nancy Mitchell: Many many occasions arise throughout the business year when a supervisor may want to give a gift to an employee some of those occasions maybe the anniversary of their service to the company, it maybe their wedding, birth of a child, it maybe when they have lost a loved one. An employer needs to think about what is my relationship to that person and what is that occasion, is a gift expected, is a gift appropriate and it is very, very important for an employer to follow the gift giving guidelines of the company and the spending limits. Also make sure that the giving of the gift will not be misunderstood by the recipient.
