Host: Why is it so hard to quit smoking?
Eletta Hansen: It is hard to quit smoking because cigarette smoking is an addiction, not a habit. It requires more than will power. Often smokers surround themselves by other smokers. There are lot of triggers. There are lot of associations. You must treat smoking as any other chronic disease, just like treating your high blood pressure. You need to think in terms of medication and support to quit smoking and ways that you are going to prevent relapse, should you become smoke-free person.
