Frankie Dell: Hi, I am Frankie Dell, I am a professional Tennis instructor, you are watching how to play at the net? Let's start off with why play at the net? Well, one question you might ask is, why do I need to play at the net? I have already learned how to hit forehands and backhands back at the baseline, can I just stay back there and play? Well you can, but let's just say your opponent hits a short shot that lands just over the net, you run up to get it and return it, now you are stuck here. You don't want to go back to the baseline so you need to learn how to play once you get up here. Another reason why you might you come to the net is, maybe you want to play aggressively and hit the shot and rush to the net, this will put some pressure on your opponent. Some people when they see their opponent come to the net, they sort of panic and think they have to come up with something great, therefore leading to an error. And then another reason why you want to play at the net is if you plan to play doubles. Usually, in doubles you'll have at least one person playing the net sometimes both players will come to the net, but often times one will be back and one will be at the net. So these are the reasons why you need to learn how to play at the net.
